A look round Electrik

The inside of a bar with wooden tables and chairs, a row of wall lights along a panelled wall, and people sitting talking. Two pints stand on the table in front.

Went over to Electrik in Chorlton to look at the room, thinking about a show. Booths, low light, art already on the walls and a bar running through the middle of it.

The idea came through Chris Massey of Sprechen. We worked together at Station South, where he did the events bookings, and he did the same at Electrik. A conversation at the station turned into a visit.

The long room at Electrik, tables and art on the walls.

What I was looking for was simple. A good, busy bar with a good amount of wall space. Electrik had both. The kind of place where work can sit among people having a drink rather than behind glass, seen by whoever happens to be in that night.

This was the visit that turned into the first Attic Archive. The show opened at Electrik in November 2025 and stayed up for two months. It was mostly my own artwork, pulled from what I already had rather than new pieces made for the room.

That is the start of a longer job. A lot of the archive is work I collected while running my screen printing business, and I have not started sorting through it yet. The first show was the part I could reach. The rest is still in boxes, waiting.
