A video I made for a design talk at the Deaf Institute in Manchester. The brief was to talk about my influences and how I work, in front of a couple of hundred people. Rather than stand up and speak, I made this: a film that puts the words on screen one line at a time and lets them do the talking for me.
It runs through where I come from, the names I have worked under, and a few lines that stuck, including something a lecturer once said to me. Making a film to get out of public speaking is its own kind of design answer to a design problem, and it fit the way I would always rather show than tell.
